“Wine is the result of nature’s influence and the work of men.”

Since 1997, Jérôme Calmes and his company Oinos create wines famous for their balance, freshness and finesse. Convinced by the high potential of the Languedoc Roussillon region, he has established partnerships with several wine producers: he monitors the whole wine making process of their harvest and elaborates a comprehensive range of wines, among which single grape varieties and high quality estate wines from various appellations.

He feels that the best Mediterranean wines come from terroirs with particularly cold micro-climate. In 2003 he found the perfect place in Minervois, on the foothills down on the Montagne Noire: the influence of the mountain’s range produces cooler temperatures at nights and days, even during the hot Mediterranean summers! He produces only wines from Carignan that reflect the balance he has reached between the soil, the climate and the grape variety. A very pleasant and interesting wine experience…
