Located in the Massif Central foothills, the 494 acres of AOC Côte Roannaise are the first vineyard of the Loire Valley, close to its source. The soil (mixture of granite and porphyry), as well as the climate are perfectly adapted to the local vine variety: the Gamay Saint Romain.
The 18th century family Domaine Robert Serol cultivates 62 acres of vines aged from 5 to 80. Stéphane Sérol, who is leading the Domaine for 10 years, produces 6 red wines and 3 rosé wines, each revealing one different aspect of Gamay personality. Very fresh and easy to drink, most of our wines are produced by semi-carbonic fermentation of whole bunches. Since 2009, a Viognier has completed the range.
We share the passion for the Côte Roannaise with the Troisgros. Each year, we select an old vine vintage: the Cuvée Troisgros. Together, in 1992, we planted Les Blondins vineyard (that has been converting to organic farming since 2008).
Entered since 2002 in the Terra Vitis environmental quality process, moderation and common sense drive us to friendly environmental growing culture to protect our heritage. By associating wine-growing traditions with modern methods, we ensure sustainable wine-growing and meet the quality requirement.
In the vineyard, thanks to a very high density, grass cover, disbudding, leaf removal, and manual harvest, we can produce highly typical and authentic wines. In the wine storehouse, the harvest is sorted manually and modern and well-sized equipment allows vinification of individual parcels respecting our grapes nature and meeting the quality requirement.
